Wolff wand set, 1 gold and 1 silver

Wolff wands are used for testing the eyes. This version has extra-large balls and one gold and one silver wand: when the person being tested looks at the ball, accommodation (focusing) is engaged. Depending on the test, one or two wands are used.

What it is used for

• Cover test (phoria/tropia/orthophoria) – indispensable when assessing how the eyes are used.
• Testing smooth pursuit eye movements – for each eye and with both eyes.
• Testing saccades – the gaze is shifted as fast as possible between gold and silver.

Who it is for

Primarily for professional use. Can be used with both children and adults, with and without glasses.

How to use them

• When testing for strabismus, the angle of deviation and latent strabismus – together with an occluder paddle.
• When testing eye movements for each eye – together with an occluder paddle.
• When testing saccades, both wands are used.

Good to know

• Deluxe version with larger, shinier balls and a more solid rod than many other models.
• Lasts for many years and does not scratch easily; needs polishing now and then.
